For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2 Peter 2:20 (KJV)
Using a breadmaker, I handle yeast all the time; those little tiny granules that go in on the top of my flour mixture that brings the dough up into a full sumptuous loaf. That tiny amount has a way of infecting the whole loaf. The word tells us that a little leaven leavens the whole loaf.
A little sin in your life effects your whole life. Take a little white lie—it is such a little non-entity until it takes over and becomes a big black lie. A little porn, a little drink, a little violence, a little gossip, a little deceit, a little treat and so on. All sin leads to death. A little yeast makes the whole loaf bloated. A little leads to a lot! And it will never just effect us. It effects everyone we know and some we don't.
Satan is intent on the "if you can't beat 'em–join 'em" tactic on man. Just as sure as you get the victory over sin, a compromiser will show up and tell you that it is okay. Just a little is okay. Won't hurt anyone. No big deal. LIAR!
Compromise makes me think of Babylon. The word means confusion by mixing, from the Tower of Babel. God did it to divide them. Satan uses it to divide us from God. Reminds me of the whore of Babylon in Revelation. Every kind of compromise, sin and degradation was in her. Compromise in the verb usage (in one meaning) means to make a dishonorable or shameful concession. Confusing the truth by mixing Christ in you, the hope of glory with the fleshly world or the compromising church.
II Cor. 6:14-18 (KJV)
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial?(worthlessness) or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?(unbeliever)
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
And another thought on the WWJD thing: You would not have to wonder What Would Jesus Do...if He was IN you, would you?
